How it works
In Lacanian psychoanalysis speech and language are considered crucial to human subjectivity, so where your words take you when you speak is the focus. This means sessions are typically open-ended in structure, led by free association, allowing for silences and unexpected turns. Analysis is a gradual and, at times, challenging process of uncovering layers of identity, meaning, and suffering that sometimes might seem too difficult to face. You are invited to speak freely while your analyst is listening with a focus that reaches beyond empathy or advice.
